Large scale computing based on huge data sets in AWS | ||
| ||
| AWS Elastic Block Storage (EBS) offers significant technical benefits for large-scale computing with huge datasets by providing persistent, block-level storage volumes that can be attached to EC2 instances. This allows for high I/O performance, low latency, and high availability, enabling efficient data processing and analysis of massive datasets. EBS supports a variety of volume types, including general purpose SSDs, provisioned IOPS SSDs, and magnetic volumes, allowing users to choose the optimal storage solution for their specific workload requirements, ensuring scalability and performance for demanding data-intensive applications. These scenarios involve huge data sets collected from scientific equipment, measurement device, or other compute jobs. After collection, these data sets need to be analyzed by large-scale compute jobs to generate result data sets. Ideally, results will be available as soon as the data is collected. Often, these results are then made available to a larger audience.
