| In case of using Delphi 2009 with Indy 10, when I try to send an email with TIdSMTP, on the received email this text arrived as questions marks '?????'.
This is caused by TIdSMTP VCL bug.
You can fix it by upgrading Indy10 at ftp://indy.fulgan.com/ZIP. Please download Indy10.zip for fixing the problem. Associated Data:
- Delphi 2009: This version of Delphi is an older version, released in 2009. It's possible that the issue is due to incompatibility between the Indy version used and the Delphi version.
- Indy 10: This is a specific version of the Indy library, a popular component library for network programming in Delphi.
- TIdSMTP: This is a component within the Indy library that's specifically used for sending emails.
- "?????": This indicates that the email content is being received as garbled characters, suggesting an encoding issue.
- FTP://indy.fulgan.com/ZIP: This is a link to a website that hosts various versions of the Indy library. Downloading a newer version of Indy 10 might resolve the issue.
- Encoding Issues: This specific problem likely arises due to a mismatch in character encoding between the sender (Delphi application) and the recipient email client.
- Possible Solutions:
- Upgrading Indy to a newer version (as suggested) may resolve the bug.
- Ensuring consistent encoding settings in both the Delphi application and the recipient email client is crucial.
- Verify that the correct character set is being used in the email header.
