You may want to have your own google Meet theme based on the animation.

I tried making my own background based on the video and I am going to share the options I tried today. Its result will be like below:

In general, Google Meet allows image files - it will be something like jpeg, gif, png and etc.

Before you create your own animated background, you should have ffmpeg.

In CentOS, you can install it as below if you have admin permission

sudo yum install ffmpeg

In Mac, you can install it as below if you have brew

brew install ffmpeg

If you are ready to go, you can create video files in mp4 with no audio stream like below:

ffmpeg -i {source file} -an -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 25 {target_filename}

From the above script, the audio track should be removed, so the option -an  do that function.

Below is the example:

ffmpeg -i odk_ceo_room.mov -an -c:v libx264 -vf hflip -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 25 fullerton.mp4

If you want to flip left and right, you can use below script

ffmpeg -i {source file} -an -c:v libx264 -vf hflip -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 25 {target_filename}

To minimize the file size, you'd better change the frame rate to 10 from 25.

ffmpeg -i odk_ceo_room.mov -an -c:v libx264 -vf hflip -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 10 fullerton.mp4

The only action you should do is to select your animated video if you have the created mp4 file on your hard disk

  • When you select at Google meet, you should change the file format to select all the formats including mp4.

If everything goes fine, now you have your own video conference environment.
